EDITOR'S NOTE |
Revisiting PACK EXPO, The Packaging Recycling Summit and AIPIA |
Between PACK EXPO, the Packaging Recycling Summit, and the Active and Intelligent Packaging (AIPIA) World Congress, there has been a lot going on in recent months in all corners of our industry. In this issue, in addition to our regularly scheduled feature and department programming, we’ll revisit some of the more noteworthy packaging machinery and materials innovations that our editors discovered in Las Vegas. We’ll map out the current packaging recycling landscape at a unique event—the Packaging Recycling Summit—that unites packaging makers, designers, and users with downstream sortation, recovery, and reprocessing. And we’ll measure progress in a few key areas of smart and connected packaging, namely digital passports and watermarking, the beginning of the shift from 1D to 2D barcodes, and consumer adoption of pack-based engagement with brands via QR codes. |
